Who We Are and What We Do!

Hopestone was founded in 2012 by Dr. Jennifer McKissick, a breast cancer warrior, as a place where the cancer community could come for support, education, exercise and the arts.  Hopestone offers a wide variety of support groups, wigs, hats, scarves, transportation assistance, prescription assistance, meal program and many other things that patients and their families need to help them on their journey.  Cancer Patients, Survivors and caregivers of those currently in treatment never pay a fee for our services, that is all taken care of by our generous donors and the community who pay small fees to have access to our programs.  It's a true "people helping people" philosophy.

A Beautiful Space 〰️

Hopestone is a unique gathering place for cancer patients currently undergoing treatment, survivors and their family members. It offers a beautiful space where the public and members of the cancer community can gather for support, services, and friendship in a relaxing environment.

The Beginning

In 2011, Dr. Jenifer McKissick was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and treated at MD Anderson. Jennifer knew the importance of being able to talk to others in similar circumstances, exercise and the arts played in her recovery. She vowed to create a place where those dealing with cancer could come to receive all of those things that were so helpful to her, at no charge. In December of 2012 she created Hopestone Cancer Support Center of Bartlesville, Inc.

We lost Jen to a re-occurance of Triple Negative breast cancer on May 6, 2016, but her vision will live on!

It started with a vision to help others dealing with cancer. With the help of our friends it has become a reality. . . a family. . . a place of HOPE.

What People Are Saying About Us. . .

“Hopestone gives me peace and comfort. I get totally engrossed in what I am doing and nothing else matters.”

Shirley, Cancer Patient

“I lost myself during treatment, Hopestone gave me “ME” back. I have a place where I can get back to the things I enjoy, back to doing things for me!”

Ellen, Cancer Survivor

“Women’s Support Group at Hopestone is a place where I can come to celebrate victories, big or small, but also a place of refuge. The support I feel when I come to group helped me get through one of the scariest times of my life.”

Lisa, Cancer Patient

“Hopestone gives me a chance to help others, I remember how scared I was when I was diagnosed, I can help to ease the fear in others by giving them hope and sharing my expereiences. I help ladies pick out wigs, hats and scarves and tell them about all the services we have available to them. We can even connect them with a mentor whose been on the same journey so they don’t feel so alone.”

Patty, Cancer Survivor/Volunteer

“Support group has always been the family I didn’t know I needed. I come to group because their smiles and stories of triumph bring me happiness and HOPE!”
